Just as it was a diary for many, for 21-year-old Johanna Hußmagg it has always been writing her songs. Ever since she was a child, she has been putting feelings and experiences into her song lyrics in German and English - albeit initially with the help of Google Translate and her first instrument, the violin. The artist, who currently lives in Graz, now writes exclusively in English and last year worked on her debut EP "notes from my bedroom", a collection of five personal songs about love, life and everything in between.
Musically, Joey May finds himself somewhere between singer-songwriter and indie-folk-pop.
With band in tow, Joey May creates a live world in which the daily stories of life are often abstracted and romanticized. After their first headline show in Graz and their newly discovered passion for creating a live atmosphere, Joey and the band went on tour through Austria and Germany.
